After forty years directing jazz, marching, and concert bands at New Trier High School (Illinois) and Lakewood High School (Ohio) while raising a family... I've had no time to pursue two projects that I've envisioned for years.

 

Project 1: Concert/Field-Tested Arrangements and Compositions

I'm finally able to offer thirty of the many charts I've arranged for jazz ensemble, marching band, and concert band over forty-five years — written for junior high through college bands and performed by concert bands and the All-District/All-State groups I've directed.  My marching band charts have been performed by the marching bands at Ohio University, University of Oklahama, University of Minnessota, Ohio State University and others.  $40 each (PDF scores and parts), and rescored to your instrumentation on request.
 

I also write commissions for custom jazz or marching band charts  written to your band's strengths. If you decide not to it then the cost is refunded in full.

Project 2:  A Jazz Chart Searcher

 

When I started teaching, it was impossible to know about all the available jazz ensemble music — still true today. This AI-assisted, free, copyrighted database solves that. It has 9,740 currently published charts from 30 global publishers, updated monthly, with eleven sortable and searchable fields (title, arranger, composer, publisher, year, difficulty, style, duration, tempo, price, and Buy/Hear/See links to each publisher's page). Just push a button to highlight the charts published since October 1, 2026. There's a smartphone app for the 2 a.m. search. Hint: There's great jazz band music being published outside the USA!
 

I'll keep this Searcher available through Sept. 1, 2027; after that, its future depends on traffic and user feedback.
